If you hear something that sounds a little bit like a horn, look around and you might see us tooting it, and not just for ourselves. Bear with us — we’re pretty excited.

This past Tuesday, we were the recipients of a Business Excellence Award for Philanthropy from the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce! This award is a testament to everything we aspire to be as a business — one that operates well, for the purpose of serving our community. We are incredibly humbled by this honor.

We joined more than 300 of our Omaha neighbors at the awards ceremony, held at the Embassy Suites Omaha – LaVista. Governor Pete Ricketts was in attendance to help present awards, which were given to honor businesses celebrating anniversary milestones of 25, 50, 100, 125, and 150 years in business. We also celebrated North End Teleservices, LLC being named Small Business of the Year, and our colleagues earning awards for Leadership, Innovation, or Philanthropy.

More than 100 businesses were nominated for these awards, which were given to 25 businesses (including nine others with us in the Philanthropy category). The selection process included narrowing down the field of nominees based on essay questions and demonstrated service in the community. White Castle Roofing was selected because of the many projects we’ve undertaken to try to make our neighborhood a better place, including the Grand Giveaway, Free Roof Rescue, Hoops for Homes, and more — which you can read about on our Community Initiatives page.

We believe, and often say, that the best reward for our work is a happy customer. Sales are great, and titles are exciting, but the most gratifying thing for us as a business is to be able to look at our work and see its impact for the good of our community. We can only be in a position to do that by being a contractor homeowners can trust, allowing us to “pay it forward” — and for that, we look at this award as a reflection of our customers.
